 Children's Story Resource

Goodnight, Gorilla by Peggy Rathmann

As the zookeeper makes his rounds saying "Goodnight" to each of his friends, Gorilla borrows his keys and lets the animals out of their cages. All of the animals follow the zookeeper home. He is in for a big surprise!

How these stories are connected: When someone is good to us, we want to follow them and be with them. These stories give us the opportunity to talk about God and the people in our lives as encouragers and supporters who help us do good things.

Questions about Good night, Gorilla:

Why is the zookeeper saying “goodnight”?

Why does gorilla takes his keys?

Who goes into the zookeeper’s bedroom?

Why do you think all of the animals want to sleep in the zookeeper’s room?

Questions about the Bible story:

Who are some of the people in the story?

What are some things they were able to do?

How do you think this story helps people?

 Questions about our lives:

Who reminds you: “You can do it!” ?

     How does that help you?

How does it help to have lots of friends?

How do you thank God for those people?

Prayer

Dear God, thank you giving us people who tell us we can do anything we want. Thank you for helping us as we learn about you and as we learn to love people. Amen.
