REMEMBERING GARDEN

In 2010, a heart shaped garden was created on the north-west corner of the church property to honour the life of our beautiful Brittney McInnes.  Brittney's death in January of that year was a terrible tragedy for her family, her community, and her church family.  It became our hope for new life in a garden to bring comfort to all.

As well as a garden of remembering Brittney, we dedicate this space of life to the memory of all women who have lost their lives through violence. It has become home to flowers planted to honour the lives of MISSING AND MURDERED INDIGENOUS WOMEN AND GIRLS and flowers to honour other women in our community who have suffered death under dreadful circumstances.

The Remembering and Forgiving garden is a reminder that remembering and forgiving are ongoing acts of grace. "Remembering" and "Forgiving" plaques lie amongst the flowers and it is our prayer that this garden will give some solace to any who pass by.

You are welcome to participate in the planting celebration at 9 am on the first Saturday of June of each year. You are welcome to participate in the acts of remembering and forgiving all the time.
