Dear Friends and Family,

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! It’s been an unbelievable year and we’re thankful for good health, friends and family, and the return to school for the boys in September! We had some big changes in 2020. Both of our jobs ended due to the pandemic and resulting Alberta energy sector downturn and we moved to a new home in Cochrane at the end of September.

We’re enjoying our new place and a quieter life. Leland and Jesse walk to school down the street and they like their new school and friends. Our neighbour has grandkids the same age as the boys so they’ve had fun playing outside. The mountain views and treks through the woods have been great. One of the reasons we moved was to be closer to family. My sister Jill and her family live nearby, Graham’s Mom and sister Laura are nearer, and my parents plan to move here too.

A week after we moved, I started a recruitment contract working remotely for Hexagon/NovAtel which has been a rewarding experience in high-tech. I am consulting through Energy Resourcing, a global recruitment firm. Graham received an early retirement package from Key Seismic Solutions, and he worked until the end of November. He is grateful for his 30-year career processing seismic data and the many friends and clients he has worked with. His new job for now is fixing up our old place to rent it out and tackling the long list of fix-its at the new house. He will transition into a new job-yet to be determined!

Leland and Jesse are in the Calgary Boys Choir and their practices went online in March. Their rehearsals were outdoor this fall and they are back online which they still enjoy. We are excited about another downhill ski season at Nakiska even if we need to hang out in our van for lunch since the ski lodge is not open. This winter we’re also cross-country skiing and skating.

For Christmas activities we are baking cookies, shoveling snow, tobogganing, listening to Christmas tunes, reading, playing games, putting old Lego sets back together, doing a massive Santa puzzle, doing Advent readings, and taking it easy. Leland asked Santa for a dog and Jesse asked for a frog…we’re working on the dog idea in 2021.

After this pandemic winds down, it will be awesome to have visitors over! Our new home phone number is 403-932-1009. Until we all meet again, peace be with you as we celebrate Jesus’ birth.

I leave you with a musical card that I participated in with my work team from around the world.
