Genesis 28: 10-19a: Jacob flees for his life, falls down exhausted, and dreams a new dream
New dreams

When Esau threatens Jacob's life, Rebekah sends him to seek safety with her brother Laban. He runs until it is too dark to go on, lies down in the dust and takes up a stone for a pillow. There in the emptiness of his relational and physical exhaustion, he dreams a new dream that reshapes his journey and alters his life.

Jacob discovers that God is not angry nor vengeful, but present and providing.

Jacob dreams a new dream for all of us. Where we expect God to be punishing, instead we find God to be graceful, forgiving, present, and resourceful.

What do you imagine happens while you sleep and rest? Can you imagine a ladder set up beside your bed and angels carrying your needs to God and God's relief to you?
