Mark 6:1-13 After being rejected in his own hometown, Jesus prepares his disciples for life in ministry and sends them out two by two
Shake off the dirt!

To ancient peoples, the god of the people resided in the dirt of their land. When Jesus told the disciple to "shake the dust of their feet" in testimony against the people who wouldn't receive them, he was saying, "Leave their god behind." As Lutheran Christians, this is a good daily practice for us, shaking off the God we knew yesterday to allow us to experience the reality of God today, beyond what we already know. Can you be that open to God?
