Heidi Grogan is a writer and teacher, and she and her husband Mike enjoy life with their two wonderful children in Calgary’s NW. She received her MA in Spiritual Theology from Regent College, with a special focus on the spirituality and social justice orientation of medieval women. The wisdom of the women who came before us shaped Heidi’s vocation of 15 years at Servants Anonymous Society, a Calgary agency supporting sexually exploited women. In the life-skills classroom, overnights in the program houses, and in her role as Senior Program Advisor, Heidi learned a great deal from the women and their children, and about the importance of true hospitality. These learnings continue to inform her life, writing and work, and are the core of her passion for coming alongside people on the margins of society. She is a regular contributing author to Weavings, a US journal of spirituality.   Currently, Heidi teaches courses designed to help low-income adults who have experienced homelessness and addiction challenges. She also writes life skills curriculum for youth whose families have immigrated to Canada.

A Cry From the Streets How is that a young girl ends up on the streets of Calgary?  What damage is done to her in the pit of prostitution and addiction?  Coming alongside women healing from sexual exploitation is a humbling privilege, but make no mistake: the journey to helping her up involves climbing down.  There, God lifts chins, smiles friendship through us.  The journey up and out is not so scary when we do it together. In this presentation, Heidi Grogan shares her experience of the transformative power of hospitality, experienced as God is present in the poorest of the poor.

Open to EVERYONE.
